The S-shaped leg is supported by four scrolls and is decorated with acanthus leaves and rosettes. A carved baluster springs from its middle part, connecting the leg with the pyramidal stand. The bottom and the two slanted fronts of the stand are pierced: each corner of the fronts are carved with an acanthus tendril which enclose the oval middle field depicting a swan. The stand is surmounted with a symmetrical tendril that ends in a horn of plenty and is decorated with antique heads. The vase-shaped middle part of this tendril once showed a cupid playing music, while pairs of bronze brackets sprang from the flower heads that hang down on the two sides of the bottom. On the basis of the false notes in the inventory book, A. Kiss identified the designer of the stand as Theofil Hansen and the date of manufacture as 1873. The impressive music stand of Josef Storck (1830- 1902), director of the Apprentice School that completed the activity of the Viennese Museum of Applied Arts (Österreichisches Museum für Kunst und Industrie, today: Österreichisches Museum für Angewandte Kunst), was first presented at the 1878 Paris World Exhibition.
